## Why
Voice failure metrics lacked cause and lifecycle phase, and session durations were recorded before the final outcome was known. A failed control send could also overwrite a more specific WebRTC error.
## What changed
- Tag `codex.voice.session.failure` with bounded `cause` and `phase` values, recording at most one failure per session.
- Capture duration when stopping and emit `codex.voice.session.duration` at cleanup with a `success` or `failure` outcome.
- Carry typed WebRTC errors into the TUI, preserve existing errors when control sends fail, and avoid duplicate errors after startup failure.
- Record app-server disconnect failures for background voice sessions as well as the visible session.
## Testing
Add coverage for terminal outcome and failure metric attributes, preservation of specific startup and audio-session errors, and startup failures without duplicate control-channel errors.

## Why
Concurrent Linux test spawns can inherit writable descriptors for executable fixtures, preventing those fixtures from being executed even after the writing test closes its descriptor.
## What changed
Replace direct executable fixture writes and copies across the Rust tests with `codex_utils_cargo_bin::write_executable` and `copy_executable`. These existing helpers complete writes and copies in separate processes on Linux.
Remove the empty temporary inode before creating fake bubblewrap executables, and stage tampered bubblewrap bytes in a separate data file before copying them into the executable fixture. Add the required test dependencies.

## Why
Mixing every input on a multichannel audio device can include playback channels in microphone capture. Selecting only microphone inputs keeps those playback channels out of the captured audio.
## What changed
- Add `audio.microphone_channel` with one-based channel numbers, accepting a single value or an array such as `[1, 2]`. Leaving it unset preserves mixing of all inputs.
- Add an input-channel picker for the selected microphone when it has at least three channels. Require a nonempty selection and save it locally for the next voice conversation.
- Average only the selected channels, deduplicate selections, and reject empty or unavailable selections without falling back to other inputs.
- Clear saved channel selections when saving an input device and report configuration overrides that prevent the reset from taking effect.
## Testing
Add regression coverage for excluding playback channels, sample conversion, subset mixing, invalid selections, configuration loading, local persistence and overrides, and picker selection and cancellation. Update UI snapshots and verify channel selections are passed to the voice helper.

## Why
Voice conversations previously opened the system-default microphone and speaker. Users need to choose which local devices to use, including when connected to a remote app server.
## What changed
- Add input and output device pickers alongside voice selection, with back navigation and a System default option.
- Persist selections as `audio.microphone` and `audio.speaker` on the TUI's machine, excluding project configuration layers. Apply them to the next voice conversation.
- Enumerate devices without opening audio streams and pass the selected names to the voice helper at startup.
- Disable ambiguous device names in the picker and use the same eligibility filtering for discovery and named-device startup.
## Testing
Add tests for device preference persistence across project and remote transitions, picker navigation and duplicate names, discovery without capture, and forwarding selected devices to the helper.

## Why
Linux voice needs system ALSA plugins and enough buffering to accommodate PipeWire graph cycles without losing capture samples. Voice startup failures also need actionable diagnostics without exposing native error details.
## What changed
- Build and bundle GNU voice helpers and runtimes with primary Linux musl release archives, and sign the archives. Keep Python wheels free of these libraries to preserve `manylinux_2_17` compatibility.
- Discover ALSA plugins in fixed system directories and increase Linux capture and playback buffering to support larger PipeWire graph cycles.
- Report voice failures by stage, preserve negotiation timeout classification, and discard native error sources. Suppress the misleading `requested` closure message after failure cleanup.
- Add explicit Windows MSVC, pkgconf, and CMake toolchain configuration and preserve host architecture in native build environments.
## Testing
Add coverage for Linux release assembly, ALSA plugin discovery, PipeWire capture and playback, classified startup failures, failure cleanup rendering, and Windows build environment handling.

## What changed
- Add `RealtimeWebrtcSession` and cloneable handles for startup, answer negotiation, audio controls, level meters, and error reporting.
- Open devices after answer negotiation and apply the latest controls before enabling audio. Preserve subsequent control transitions in order and close the session if the command queue fills.
- Cancel pending work on explicit close, external cancellation, or final handle drop, with a shared runtime keeping helper reaping alive.
- Add audio-state polling to consume microphone and speaker peaks and detect helper, device, or connection failures.
- Check packaged helper/runtime availability and initialize build information in the standalone TUI for the helper handshake.
## Testing
Add unit and helper-process integration tests covering startup control ordering, queue overflow, cancellation, helper reaping and loss, package availability, SDP debug redaction, and peak accumulation, clamping, and consumption.
